The 2010 FERC theme celebrates the concept of trust which is a critical component in the sustainability of family firms. This concept can be traced back in the family business literature to Prof. Miguel Angel Gallo who identified trust as the defining characteristic of family firms. Relax not only reflects the location for the 2010 conference, but more importantly, relaxing is a behavioral outcome derived from the tacit knowledge that family members have similar values and ethics that guide both the family and the firm. That is, because they trust, they can relax. HBR's June, 2009 issue has a special section on Rebuilding Trust indicating the need for TRUST in this economically challenging time. |

Conference keynotes are by leaders in the family business research field as well as heads of leading Mexican family firms. There will be doctoral student gatherings and panel discussion with practitioners providing interesting insights on making research more relevant. Many activities will take place outdoors in small group concurrent, interactive sessions so you can enjoy the location. An On-the-Beach Gala is planned. Dress code is based on comfort. |
