CADEBI present at the 15th FELAIBE 2025 Congress

15th FELAIBE 2025 Congress

CADEBI presents the Ibero-American Interactive Bioethics Atlas, an institutional meeting space at the 15th Latin American and Caribbean Congress of Bioethics organized by FELAIBE

The Anáhuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI) took part in the 15th Latin American and Caribbean Congress of Bioethics 2025, organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Federation of Bioethics Institutions (FELAIBE) and held virtually from October 16–18, 2025, under the theme “Bioethical Challenges in the 21st Century: Dignity, Technology, and Sustainability.” The gathering featured roundtables, workshops, and an experts’ forum organized by FELAIBE.

CADEBI’s contribution

On the opening day, CADEBI delivered Workshop 2: “Ibero-American Interactive Bioethics Atlas: CADEBI Institutional Meeting Space,” coordinated by Dr. Alejandro Sánchez Guerrero. Presenters included medical interns — Javier Migueltorena Puertas, José Antonio García Iturriaga, José Emilio Figueroa Gutiérrez, Ana Corina Ballout Hernández, and María Fernanda Reyes Martínez — together with Carlo De la Llata Gómez, Deputy Coordinator for Strategic Projects at CADEBI.

The workshop introduced the Ibero-American Bioethics Network Observatory (ORIBI) and its tool, the Ibero-American Interactive Bioethics Atlas, along with modules in development such as the Normateca and regional ecosystem indicators.

Key takeaways

  • ORIBI’s purpose: to align research, teaching, and management efforts in Ibero-American bioethics, turning data into “information for action” to inform decision-making.

  • Interactive Atlas: continuous monitoring of institutions, programs, and committees; a networking and outreach hub; tracking collaboration and best practices; periodic reporting.

  • Normateca (in development): a compendium of regulatory frameworks by country and bioethical topic, with clear inclusion criteria and standardized metadata.

  • ORIBI Weekly Agenda and upcoming modules: dissemination of events, collaboration opportunities, and integration with specialized libraries.

The workshop was streamed live on FELAIBE’s YouTube channel, and audience questions were addressed individually by the team. At the close of the session, FELAIBE President Dr. Gerardo Perazzo congratulated CADEBI on the initiative; the Secretariat, represented by Dr. Fernando Arroyo, also participated.

Congress at a glance — tracks and figures

FELAIBE 2025 featured five roundtables, five specialized workshops, one experts’ forum, and free-paper presentations. The thematic tracks included: clinical bioethics; education, health care, and bioethics; neuroscience, AI, and bioethics; bioethics in Latin America and the Caribbean; migration; and research ethics.

Outlook

CADEBI’s participation at FELAIBE strengthens the regional momentum of ORIBI and its Interactive Atlas to standardize methodologies, enhance cooperation, and highlight best practices across Ibero-America.
