First Thesis Defenses Mark a Milestone in the Cuba–Valencia Master’s in Bioethics Program

The Juan Pablo II Institute of Bioethics of Cuba and the Catholic University of Valencia celebrate the start of thesis defenses, strengthening international academic cooperation and professional ethical commitment.

On the morning of Friday, July 4th, the first round of oral thesis defenses for the Master’s Program in Bioethics officially began. This program is a joint initiative between the Juan Pablo II Institute of Bioethics in Cuba and the Catholic University of Valencia San Vicente Mártir. The event represents a significant milestone in the academic and professional development of the program.

The defense sessions, noted for their ethical depth, academic rigor, and interdisciplinary spirit, included active participation from faculty members, tutors, and jurors from both institutions. The collaboration between Cuba and Spain has been essential in ensuring the quality of the educational process, which has addressed timely and relevant topics in contemporary bioethics.

Academic activities are expected to continue with more thesis defenses, further enriching the space for academic and professional dialogue.

As a gesture of gratitude and a symbolic closing to the day, the graduates delivered an emotional speech of thanks, followed by a shared gathering with professors, authorities, and invited guests. This act highlighted the collaborative bonds that have been forged throughout the program.

All graduates will receive a Master’s Degree in Bioethics with official recognition in the European Union, thereby strengthening their professional credentials and their commitment to the ethical advancement of health sciences and the humanities.

The Institute of Bioethics in Cuba proudly celebrates this collective achievement and sincerely thanks all the individuals and institutions that have made this international educational project possible
