School of Bioethics present at the Ángeles Mocel Hospital Medical Conference 2025

Drs. Margarita Otero and Martha Patricia Hernández offered keynote addresses on clinical ethics and medical innovation, reaffirming the academic leadership of Anáhuac University Mexico.

The School of Bioethics at Anáhuac University Mexico had a prominent participation in the Medical Conference at the Ángeles Mocel Hospital, one of the most important academic gatherings for the exchange of knowledge and reflection on the challenges of clinical practice and advances in medical innovation.

At this edition, held on August 29, 2025, the School was represented by two of its academic experts in the field of bioethics: Dr. Margarita Otero Lamas and Dr. Martha Patricia Hernández Valdez, who were invited as keynote speakers.

Dr. Margarita Otero presented the conference "Medical Ethics in the Face of Innovation: Between Clinical Prudence and Informed Autonomy." In her remarks, she emphasized the need for medical practice to maintain a balance between the incorporation of new technologies and prudent decision-making, always oriented toward respecting patient autonomy and personal dignity. Her presentation opened an enriching dialogue about the limits and responsibilities of healthcare professionals in a context of rapidly advancing innovation.

Dr. Martha Patricia Hernández gave a lecture entitled "Medical Innovation and Psychosocial Vulnerability: The Patient as an Ethical Subject," where she emphasized that scientific and technological progress must recognize patients not only as recipients of treatments, but as individuals with full rights, whose vulnerability demands solid ethical frameworks to guide clinical practice. Her presentation invited reflection on how innovation can offer hope but also generate new ethical dilemmas.

The presence of the School of Bioethics at these conferences reaffirms Anáhuac University Mexico's commitment to training healthcare professionals capable of integrating scientific knowledge with ethical responsibility. The participation of Dr. Otero and Dr. Hernández is a testament to the institution's academic leadership in high-level settings, contributing to the development of a more humane, comprehensive, and respectful approach to medicine.

The Ángeles Mocel Hospital, recognized for its work promoting clinical excellence, opened its doors to specialists from diverse areas, consolidating this event as a benchmark for interdisciplinary dialogue. The inclusion of bioethics in its program reflects the growing relevance of this discipline in medical decision-making and in the development of more just and responsible health policies.
