Dr. José Alberto Castilla gives a lecture on fertility to UAEH students

The director of our School of Bioethics promoted an academic and ethical dialogue with members of the School of Health Sciences, in which he emphasized the importance of fertility awareness.

On September 5, 2025, as part of the activities derived from the collaboration agreement between Anáhuac University Mexico and the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH), Dr. José Alberto Castilla, director of our School of Bioethics, gave a presentation to students of the School of Health Sciences of said institution whose central theme was fertility awareness in university youth, a case of growing importance in the field of health and bioethics.

During his presentation, he addressed with academic rigor and pedagogical clarity key aspects such as the influence of biological age on reproductive capacity, the possibilities and limits of assisted reproduction, and the risks and consequences of an unplanned pregnancy during college. He also emphasized that fertility awareness should not be limited to technical knowledge, but should be understood as a tool for making responsible decisions that impact both personal life and society.

One of the most valuable elements of the conference was its dynamic and interactive nature. From the outset, the students showed great interest in the topic and participated with questions, comments, and reflections. Their concerns ranged from scientific issues regarding fertility and assisted reproduction to ethical dilemmas related to autonomy, family planning, and the professional future of young people. Dr. Castilla responded with openness and insight, generating an atmosphere of academic dialogue that enriched the learning experience.

The interaction allowed the conference to be perceived not only as a space for knowledge transfer, but as a lively encounter in which the students' voices played a central role. This exercise demonstrated the young people's interest in understanding the biological, ethical, and social aspects of fertility, while also reinforcing the importance of continuing to promote this type of activity in the university setting.

The speaker emphasized that fertility awareness is a topic that cannot be postponed in the training of future health professionals. He emphasized that it is essential for students to acquire tools to integrate an ethical, responsible, and conscious approach to reproductive health into their personal lives and professional practice.

This conference marked the close of the first week of formal collaboration between Anáhuac University Mexico and the UAEH, making it clear that, beyond an agreement, a process of academic and human exchange has begun that will enrich both university communities.
