Her thesis stands out for its ethical relevance, analytical depth, and social commitment in addressing contemporary clinical practices.
The School of Bioethics at Anáhuac University of Mexico congratulates Inés Hanhausen Estrada, who earned her Master's degree in Bioethics with honors after successfully submitting her degree exam in the application format on April 24, 2025.
The synod jury, composed of Dr. Elvira Llaca, M.A. Patricia Hernández, and Dr. Liliana Castro, recognized the academic excellence, depth of analysis, and social commitment reflected in the project, the result of a rigorous evaluation.
Her work entitled “Non-consensual gynecological examinations in Mexico: an approach to the bioethical problem” constitutes a valuable contribution to the ethical analysis of contemporary clinical practices. Through an exhaustive documentary review, a solid bioethical approach, and a critical analysis of the current legal framework, Ms. Hanhausen Estrada sheds light on a painful problem that persists in different hospital settings: the performance of gynecological examinations without informed consent, particularly affecting young women, medical students, and patients in vulnerable situations.
Beyond identifying this serious situation, her research proposes concrete paths to strengthen a culture of respect for patient autonomy, promote the ethical training of medical personnel, and foster safe and humane clinical environments. With this reflection, she builds bridges between theory and practice, as well as academic knowledge and social commitment, highlighting the importance of informed consent as an indispensable pillar of ethical medicine that respects human dignity.
This achievement not only recognizes Inés Hanhausen's academic excellence, but also reflects the educational, humanistic, and critical commitment that characterizes the Master's in Bioethics at Anáhuac University Mexico, a program aimed at training professionals capable of analyzing, arguing, and ethically influencing the fields of health, research, public policy, and human rights.
Our School reaffirms its conviction that research such as the one presented is essential to consolidating an interdisciplinary, critical, and transformative bioethics capable of responding to the complex ethical challenges of our time.
We extend our warm congratulations to Ms. Inés Hanhausen Estrada for her academic contributions, her ethical sensitivity, and her unwavering commitment to the transformation of medical and bioethical practice in Mexico.
