We stood out at the International Bioethics Congress at the Autonomous University of Querétaro

The presentations by Dr. María Elizabeth de los Ríos and Dr. José Alberto Castilla reaffirmed the academic leadership and ethical commitment of our School of Bioethics to justice, equity, and human dignity.

On October 13, 2025, the School of Bioethics of the Anáhuac University Mexico had an outstanding participation in the Second International Congress of Bioethics held at the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ).

The event, jointly organized by UAQ, the Anáhuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI) and the Mexican National Academy of Bioethics (ANMB), aimed to create a space for academic and multidisciplinary dialogue on contemporary ethical challenges.

During the congress, Dr. María Elizabeth de los Ríos Uriarte, professor and researcher at the School of Bioethics of Anáhuac University Mexico, presented a paper entitled “Equity and Justice in Clinical Bioethics,” in which she reflected on the importance of guaranteeing equitable and ethical healthcare, especially in light of the structural inequalities faced by health systems. Her presentation was recognized for its conceptual clarity and for highlighting the urgent need to incorporate principles of distributive justice into medical practice and clinical decision-making.

Also participating was Dr. José Alberto Castilla Barajas, director of the School of Bioethics, who emphasized the importance of strengthening the comprehensive training of future professionals from an ethical and humanistic perspective. His presence reaffirmed Anáhuac University's institutional commitment to academic excellence and the promotion of bioethics at the service of the individual and the common good.

The collaboration between UAQ, CADEBI and ANMB allowed the consolidation of a high-level academic program, where diverse perspectives on medical ethics, scientific research and the social impact of technological advances converged.
