Dr. José Alberto Castilla, director of our School of Bioethics, gave a presentation on servant leadership to the youth at Anáhuac University Veracruz Campus Xalapa.
On August 30, 2025, the Anáhuac University of Veracruz, Xalapa Campus, hosted the presentation "Servant Leadership," given by Dr. José Alberto Castilla Barajas, director of the School of Bioethics at Anáhuac University of Mexico.
The activity was part of the Student Leader Induction Seminar, a space designed to strengthen the spirit of service and responsibility of those who assume leadership roles in university life.
The conference was attended by student leadership leaders and students from the leadership programs and university societies ASUA, FESAL, ADEFA, and Pastoral. These young people, in addition to their academic and social achievements, fulfill the mission of being role models for their peers, supporting and motivating hundreds of students who see them as role models.
During his presentation, Dr. Castilla emphasized that true leadership is not limited to directing projects or fulfilling duties, but rather involves putting one's personal talents and abilities at the service of others. He emphasized that humility, empathy, and social commitment are essential virtues for any leader who aspires to positively transform their environment. With a thoughtful and engaging style, he invited those present to consider the impact of their actions and to experience their leadership as a true calling to service.
These presentations have a multiplier effect on the university community, as by training those who lead programs, societies, and projects, their capacity to spread values and virtues throughout the institution is strengthened. Leaders, in this sense, become educators who, by example, convey the importance of solidarity, responsibility, and the pursuit of the common good.
Dr. Castilla's message emphasized that university leaders are much more than representatives: "They are companions and guides who, through their decisions, promote the integral development of other young people." From this perspective, Anáhuac University Xalapa reaffirms its commitment to training positive action leaders prepared not only in technical knowledge but also in ethical and human virtues that enable them to have a transformative impact on society.
With initiatives like this, the university community is strengthened around a common ideal: building leadership that serves, inspires, and transforms.
