María Bernardita Portales successfully presents her degree exam

María Bernardita Del Rosario Portales Velasco

Her thesis addressed the German Clinic's Experience in consulting patients with end-of-life problems.

 

On November 21, 2023, at the Postgraduate Studies Center of Campus Norte, we had the honor of witnessing the Degree Examination of María Bernardita Portales Velasco, belonging to the 11th generation of the Doctorate in Applied Bioethics. Despite the distance, María Bernadita, accompanied by her husband, traveled from Chile to carry out this important academic milestone.

 

TesisHer thesis, entitled "Contribution of the clinical ethical consulting service in addressing bioethical problems related to end-of-life clinical decisions in patients hospitalized in a German clinic in Chile", addresses the experience of the German Clinic in consulting patients with end of life problems. Dr. Juan Pablo Beca, a world-renowned bioethicist and creator of a method for Clinical Bioethics, began this service at the Clínica Alemana. Bernadette conducts an exhaustive study of this consulting service and the charity provided to the community over the years.

 

The synod members who evaluated their work were Dr. Antonio Muñoz Torres (President) and Dr. Yael Zonenszain Laite (Secretary). In addition, José Damián Carrillo Ruíz, Antonio Martínez García and Dora Mayén Molina participated as members.

 

María Bernadita's defense was attended by her generation colleagues and students from other generations of the doctorate, creating an environment of support and recognition of her outstanding academic work.
