Dr. María Elizabeth de los Ríos participates in a session on bioethics and AI

The academic shared her experience and knowledge on the subject, addressing the relationship between technological advances and current ethical challenges.

On June 27, 2025, Dr. María Elizabeth de los Ríos Uriarte participated as a speaker in the academic session "Bioethics and Artificial Intelligence," organized by the State of Mexico Chapter of the Mexican National Academy of Bioethics (ANMB). This meeting was held in a hybrid format at the State Oncology Center of the Social Security Institute of the State of Mexico and Municipalities (ISSEMYM) "Dr. José Luis Barrera Franco" in Toluca.

During her presentation, the professor and researcher at the School of Bioethics analyzed the ethical challenges posed by the development and use of artificial intelligence in the field of health sciences. She addressed topics such as the difficulty of attributing responsibility for technological failures, algorithmic biases that can lead to patient discrimination, the breakdown of the doctor-patient relationship, and the lack of access to technologies due to their high costs.

Her intervention generated a space for bioethical reflection on human responsibility in the creation and use of advanced technologies, highlighting the importance of ethics based on human dignity and focused on the common good, justice, and peacebuilding.

This participation reaffirms Anáhuac University's commitment to the ethical analysis of contemporary scientific advances, promoting a solid, interdisciplinary approach to bioethics, oriented toward building a more just and humane society.
