
Doctors Alfredo Vigueras and Ana María Millán were honored for their two decades of service, characterized by their ethical, academic, and humanistic vision for science, education, and health.
On September 23 and 24, 2025, the XIX National Bioethics Meeting was held in the Auditorium of the Toluca Regional Hospital ISSEMyM, within the framework of the 20th anniversary of the Bioethics Commission of the State of Mexico, under the motto "Bioethics as a link between science, education and health for a sustainable future."
During this event, which brought together specialists, academics, and representatives of society, special recognition was given to Dr. Alfredo Vigueras Rendón and Dr. Ana María Millán Velázquez for their 20 years of experience as representatives of the State of Mexico society before the Bioethics Commission of the State of Mexico, as well as for their ethical and human commitment. They are considered generous voices that have enriched every step of the Commission's journey throughout these years of service.
Dr. Alfredo Vigueras Rendón has been a constant reference in the construction of a solid bioethical culture in the State of Mexico. Thanks to his active participation, the Commission opened avenues of dialogue between medicine, ethics, and society, leaving a legacy of initiatives aimed at respecting life and the dignity of the person. He is also a leading figure in projects that strengthen professional practice with a humanistic vision and an example for new generations.
Dr. Ana María Millán Velázquez, a graduate of the School of Bioethics and current member of the Advisory Council, was recognized for embodying the continuity of the university's mission in public life. Her role has been decisive in integrating new perspectives into bioethical dialogue, bringing sensitivity, closeness, and a firm commitment to the formation of a conscious and responsible society. Her career reaffirms how academia and citizen participation can come together for the benefit of the community.
This tribute became a collective celebration in which colleagues, authorities, and students emphasized that the work of both doctors has been more than an institutional legacy, as their example is an inspiration for those currently training in bioethics.
