The coordinator of the online Master's in Bioethics Studies participated in the forum "Bioethics in Practice," where she addressed the ethical challenges posed by artificial intelligence in medicine and emphasized the importance of maintaining patient dignity as a central focus in the face of technological advances.
Within the framework of the Third Congress of the National Association of Private Hospitals, held on June 16 and 17, 2025, Martha Patricia Hernández Valdez, coordinator of the online Master's in Bioethics Studies, had a distinguished participation in the forum "Bioethics in Practice: Challenges in Medicine, Technology, and Human Rights."
This event brought together specialists from different areas of health and emphasized emerging ethical challenges within clinical practice, particularly in light of the rapid development of new technologies and the growing implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in medical settings.
Furthermore, she stressed that technological innovation should not obscure the central role of the person in medical care, emphasizing the importance of respecting human rights in clinical care, even in the face of the most promising advances in AI.
While technological tools offer great opportunities to improve diagnoses and treatments, they also entail risks that must be managed from an ethical and humanistic perspective, since one of their main challenges is maintaining patient dignity as the guiding principle of any intervention, avoiding a merely technocratic view of medicine.
It's worth noting that this forum was part of a broader congress agenda, which was aimed at promoting more ethical, comprehensive, and humane medical care.
The participation of Mtra. Hernández Valdez reinforces the importance of bioethics studies in addressing contemporary dilemmas that arise at the intersection of science, technology, and fundamental rights. At the same time, it reflects the commitment of the School of Bioethics at Anáhuac University of Mexico to the comprehensive development of professionals who not only master the technical aspects of medical care, but also act with ethical responsibility and human sensitivity.
Through its educational mission, this School promotes in-depth critical reflection in the face of rapid changes in the healthcare field, fostering a culture of care centered on human dignity, social justice, and unconditional respect for human rights.
