Anahuac University, Pioneer in Pediatric Palliative Care Training

We are among the only 5 teaching centers in palliative care (pc) in the Mexican Republic.

On Tuesday, May 17^th, a session was convened in the Senate of the Republic, where the need to legislate Pediatric Palliative Care was expressed, and thus guarantee, in a multidisciplinary way, the active and total assistance of the body, mind and spirit focused on prevention. and relief of symptoms such as stress and pain in boys and girls.

In addition, the presentation of the book "Pediatric Palliative Care for Children. My care, my right" was carried out, because of the presentations of the First International Symposium on Pediatric Palliative Care. In which Dr. Bernardo Villa-Cornejo, President, and founder of the Center for Palliative Care in Mexico (CEPAMEX) and winner of the Anahuac Medal in Bioethics and Health Sciences 2018, as well as Dr. Mónica Osío Saldaña Advisor participated as speakers. in CP matters from the Ministry of Health and a student of the master's degree in Bioethics at the Universidad Anáhuac México.

Subsequently, the 5 pediatric PC training centers that exist in the Republic were announced, of which two are hospital specialties: National Institute of Pediatrics and Federico Gómez Children's Hospital of Mexico (both endorsed by UNAM). And three of them are online graduates, at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, the University of Guadalajara and the Anáhuac Mexico University, the latter being the only theoretical-practical program in blended-asynchronous mode.

To promote greater dissemination of pediatric PC, we can announce that the objective of this course at Universidad Anáhuac is to provide knowledge, skills, and attitudes for the management of patients who need pediatric palliative care and their families. Teaches the assessment of medical, psychological, social, ethical, spiritual, and religious needs, at home and in a hospital environment.
