Anáhuac University Mexico strengthens academic ties with San Sebastián University

Universidad San Sebastián y Universidad Anáhuac México

Through bioethics conferences and the signing of an agreement promoting international training, international collaboration is strengthened and joint academic, research, and training initiatives are planned between the two institutions.

On May 6, 2025, the signing of a work plan development agreement between the Universidad San Sebastián of Chile and the Universidad Anáhuac of Mexico took place in Santiago, Chile, as part of the institutional cooperation agreement previously signed in January of this year. This strategic alliance marks a significant step in the consolidation of international academic ties in the field of bioethics.

The agreement, signed by representatives of the School of Bioethics at Anáhuac University and the School of Medicine at San Sebastián University, establishes a joint commitment to advance ten areas of collaboration, including:

  • Regular lectures by the Director of the School of Bioethics for students and faculty members at the University of San Sebastián

  • Participation of faculty members from Anáhuac University Mexico in training activities organized by the University of San Sebastián, such as continuing education courses and bioethics workshops

  • Development of a joint research manuscript on a topic to be defined

  • Organization of an open bioethics course with both institutions as co-organizers, planned for 2026

  • Creation of a Latin American Network of Personalist Bioethics

  • Academic exchange between both institutions, including reciprocal presentations and editorial collaboration

  • Active participation in the Querida Amazonía project

This work plan not only represents an opportunity for academic and professional growth for students and academics, but also promotes a personal bioethics approach with a regional focus and international reach. The signing of the agreement took place during Dr. José Alberto Castilla's visit to the University of San Sebastián on May 5 and 6, 2025, an occasion on which several conferences were also held.

Likewise, on May 5th at the Las Tres Pascuales campus, Dr. Castilla gave a lecture, "Scientific Research and Bioethics in the Service of Goodness and Truth," aimed at students studying Ethics in Research. That same day, Father Fernando Fabó, LC, an academic member of the School of Bioethics at Anáhuac University Mexico, gave a talk, "Continuous and Emerging Challenges in Bioethics: Where Are We Going? A Personalist Perspective," focused on medical professors.

On May 6, at the Los Leones campus, the director of the School of Bioethics presented "Humanization, Future Prospects, and Bioethical Challenges of the 21st Century," addressing the importance of an ethical perspective in the face of scientific and technological advances in the current century.

Anáhuac University Mexico and the School of Bioethics celebrate this partnership as a demonstration of their commitment to academic excellence and the strengthening of international networks that enable the training of professionals with an ethical, humanistic, and innovative vision, capable of addressing contemporary bioethical challenges.
