Clinical Bioethics and Neuroethics Anáhuac presents its annual report of results

Annual report of results

This report is structured into four fundamental areas addressing the organization and planning of BINCA, showcasing achievements throughout the year, and proposing new goals for the January - December 2024 cycle.

The Clinical Bioethics and Neuroethics Anáhuac project (BINCA) presented its annual report for the January - December 2023 period, led by Dr. María Fernanda Martínez Palomo and Dr. Pía Canal Zárate, supported by Nayeli Colón de la Vega in design and communication, and actively involving Dr. Daniela Crane Molano and Dr. Andrea Muñiz Madrazo.

This report is organized into four fundamental areas covering the organization and planning of BINCA, highlighting achievements throughout the year, proposing new goals for the January - December 2024 cycle, and was overseen by Dr. Antonio María Cabrera Cabrera, L.C., and Dr. David Cerdio Domínguez, who lead the Anáhuac Center for Strategic Development in Bioethics (CADEBI).

Among the notable activities were the five monthly BINCA sessions addressing significant and current topics in Bioethics, such as transhumanism, naprotechnology and the Creighton Model System, therapeutic teaching in pediatric patients, brain death, and Biojuridical aspects in advance healthcare directives and informed consent.

Other planned activities included research initiatives aimed at students from various health-related fields, providing support for their publications and projects through workshops on information retrieval for scientific articles, as well as identifying and participating in relevant conferences.

Within this report, the overall objectives of the project were outlined, including the revitalization of the BINCA Journal Clubs, the inclusion of article reviews, as well as bioethical and neuroscientific presentations and debates, all aimed at expanding thematic variety and strengthening connections with diverse institutions.

Regarding engagement projections, three fundamental aspects were considered: first, establishing connections with other branches of the Anáhuac University Network, specifically with the Bioethics Centers and Student Councils of Anáhuac University Oaxaca and Anáhuac University Querétaro, involving invitations to participate in various research lines and coordinating with current responsible parties to conduct multicenter research.

Secondly, seeking engagement with the International Network of Anáhuac Universities, encompassing institutions in Rome, Chile, and Spain, through direct invitations to Bioethics authorities and participation in research lines.

Lastly, pursuing engagement with external institutions such as FELAIBE, with the goal of supporting the Neuroethics Commission, and FIBIP, aiming to propose concrete projects through strategic collaborations.

It is worth noting that this report reflects the commitment and continued expansion of the BINCA project, which solidifies its position as a reference in Bioethics and Neuroethics, not only at the local but also at the international level.
