Business Systems Design Specialist - Commercial

As a Business Systems Design Specialist on the Information Services Commercial team, you will design and implement enterprise solutions around the logistics, and wholesale marketing functions. The initial project the employee will join is for the implementation of Valero’s Mexico operations.

The systems that you help implement will improve business processes, control costs and increase profitability. The primary focus will be on project work, but you will also be involved in supporting existing ERP, and other business-related applications.  This includes, but is not limited to: trouble-shooting, problem-solving, issue resolution, user interaction, training, defining systems scope, gathering requirements, documenting design, functional specifications & test scripts, research and fact-finding, configuration, testing, reporting, cutover, IS and business user coordination.

  • Perform analysis on complex business processes and recommend simplified, quality solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Deploy new solutions and enhancements/fixes to the Commercial business by troubleshooting, problem solving, interacting with end-users, training, defining system scope, configuration, testing, etc. 
  • Be organized and manage business user interactions including requirements gathering, testing, training and post-implementation support.
  • Communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
  • Collaborate across the organization and with outside parties to deliver solutions.
  • Meet milestones and related effort/time commitments for assigned deliverables. 

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

 

Successful candidates will have (required): 

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) or foreign equivalent degree in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field required.
  • 5 years of refinery industry or business/IT experience utilizing SAP-Sales & Distribution (SD) and/or SAP Materials Management (MM) with a good understanding of integration with FI/CO.

The most competitive candidates will additionally have (preferred):

 

  • Experience with SAP’s IS-Oil module:  Formula & Average Pricing (F&A), Hydrocarbon Product Management (HPM), Exchanges, Traders & Schedulers Workbench (TSW) preferred.
  • Experience debugging in SAP.
  • Experience in OTC and/or P2P

Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
