15 years as an ESR University: A reflection of a university that leads with purpose

For the fifteenth consecutive year, Anáhuac Mexico University has received certification as a Socially Responsible Company, highlighting its leadership in education and its commitment to making a positive impact.

The Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi) awarded Anáhuac Mexico University the ESR® (Socially Responsible Company) certification for the fifteenth consecutive year. This recognition honors organizations committed to ethical, sustainable and socially responsible management.

This recognition does not stem from a single initiative, an isolated project or a temporary strategy. Rather, it is a university community that, across various departments, schools and faculties, contributes every day to building an educational institution that is more humane, more mindful and more committed to its environment.

These 15 consecutive years speak to consistency and an understanding of education and leadership that is rooted in positive impact. They speak to academics who incorporate discussions on ethics, sustainability, social responsibility and human dignity into their classes. They speak to researchers who spearhead projects aimed at solving real social and environmental problems. They highlight administrative staff who, through their daily operations, make it possible for the university to be more efficient, accessible and aware of its responsibility toward people and the environment.

They also highlight those who support students, coordinate initiatives, manage processes, organize activities, build partnerships or promote projects that strengthen university life in different areas. Social impact is often achieved through everyday actions that are not always visible, but which ultimately help build a strong institutional culture that is recognized both internally and externally.

One of the most representative examples is the volunteer work carried out by ASUA (Anáhuac University Social Action), an initiative that has encouraged students, administrative staff and academics to participate in service, support and community action projects for years. Its various programs have helped foster a culture of solidarity and participation that extends beyond the classroom and connects the university community with the needs of society.

Additionally, the Department of Social Commitment recently published its 2026 Results Report, which showcases progress, partnerships and actions focused on sustainability, human development, community engagement and social impact. This work helps coordinate institutional initiatives that strengthen the educational mission of Anáhuac Mexico University and its commitment to the common good.

The Impulsa Social Commitment Leadership Program promotes the formation of conscious and committed leaders by developing university projects that generate solutions with a positive impact. Through this program, students from various disciplines strengthen their leadership, empathy, collaborative work and social involvement skills.

In the academic sphere, the School of Social Responsibility continues to establish itself as a national and international leader in sustainability, ethics, social responsibility and human development issues. Its academic, research and outreach work has generated knowledge and proposals aimed at addressing current sustainability challenges from interdisciplinary and humanistic perspectives.

These efforts are all part of a shared vision that seeks to integrate social responsibility and sustainability into university life. The Committee for University Social Responsibility and Sustainability coordinates and monitors these initiatives. This body coordinates institutional initiatives and ensures the continuity of the strategy that has enabled the university to maintain this recognition for 15 consecutive years.

The ESR® Certification represents an important external validation and also reflects something that has been happening within the university for many years: people working with a sense of purpose.

In the ESR® Certification recognition model, continuity also serves as an indicator of institutional maturity. Cemefi grants special recognition to organizations that successfully maintain this certification for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 consecutive years, in honor of the consistency and evolution required to sustain social responsibility and sustainability practices over time.

Anáhuac Mexico University’s achievement of 15 consecutive years places it among a select group of institutions that have successfully consolidated an organizational culture aligned with social commitment, ethics, sustainable development and continuous improvement.
