Mexico shines at the 2025 Diving World Cup in Guadalajara

Our Anáhuac Lions, Osmar Olvera and Randal Willars, were crowned champions of this important sporting event, while the Mexican delegation finished second in the overall medal count to the People's Republic of China.
On Thursday, April 3, 2025, the 2025 Diving World Cup got underway at the Metropolitan Aquatic Center of CODE Jalisco in Guadalajara. This event, organized by World Aquatics, brought together the world's top diving powers, including Olympic champions from China, Great Britain, Germany, Canada, the United States and Mexico.
Among the main protagonists of the Mexican delegation were our Anáhuac Lions, Osmar Olvera Ibarra and Randal Willars, students of the Elite High-Performance Sports Program in Anáhuac, who not only represented our country with dignity but also established themselves as world champions in their respective events.
Osmar Olvera, gold in synchronized 3m springboard
Osmar Olvera Ibarra confirmed his position as one of the most important figures in Mexican diving today by winning the gold medal in the men's synchronized 3-meter springboard with his partner, Juan Celaya Hernández. The pair showed excellent coordination, difficulty and elegance in their performances, beating teams from China and Great Britain.
Randal Willars, gold and silver in the 10 m platform
Randal Willars dazzled the audience by winning the gold medal in the 10-meter platform individual final, beating the Chinese favorites and demonstrating flawless execution throughout the competition. He also won a silver medal in the men's 10-meter platform synchronized final, teaming up with fellow Mexican Kevin Berlin in an exciting competition decided by the narrowest of margins.

An outstanding Mexican delegation
The performance of the Mexican delegation was outstanding, finishing second in the overall medal count behind the People's Republic of China. In addition to Willars and Olvera, the performances of Lía and Mía Cueva, who showed incredible competitive growth, and Gabriela Agúndez and Alejandra Estudillo, leaders of the new generation of Mexican divers, stood out.
Key coaches
The delegation's success is also due to the technical and strategic work of top-level coaches such as Ma Jin, a renowned national diving coach who has played a key role in preparing athletes such as Osmar Olvera and Juan Celaya.
The 2025 Diving World Cup in Guadalajara not only showcased world-class talent but also demonstrated the high level that Mexico has reached in this discipline, consolidating its position as one of the leading powers in the water sport.
