Economics and Business students conclude international project in Chicago

knowledge Anahuac Leadership in Academic Excellence

Over a period of five weeks, they visited leading companies in the sector, which allowed them to learn about sustainable business practices and interact with key decision makers in the industry.

Six students from the School of Economics and Business participated in the final phase of the Developing Climate Leaders program, an international project funded by the 100,000 Strong in the Americas fund and developed in collaboration with Saint Mary's University in Canada and Dominican University in the United States, promoting leadership in sustainability through interdisciplinary learning.

For five weeks, they worked with their international peers to explore innovative finance and corporate sustainability strategies. To conclude the program, the 18 participants traveled to Chicago, Illinois, where they visited leading companies in the sector such as TOP Pallets, Wintrust Financial Corporation and Pepper's Construction. During these visits, the students learned first-hand about sustainable business practices and had the opportunity to interact with key decision makers in the industry.

The project was based on the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) methodology, which allowed them to document and communicate circular economy initiatives in line with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their research was published on the Aim2Flourish platform, highlighting the impact of their findings.

It should be noted that this achievement would not have been possible without the leadership and support of professors Pilar Madrazo Lemarroy (Anáhuac Mexico University), Anjali Chaudhry (Dominican University) and Rahman Khokhar (Saint Mary's University), who guided the students in the development of their critical thinking and their commitment to sustainability.

Thus, Anáhuac Mexico University reaffirms its commitment to training socially and environmentally conscious leaders, providing its students with international experiences that prepare them for the global challenges of the future.
