Celebrating 60 years of the School of Psychology with an international seminar on intergenerational connections

To commemorate this milestone, the school hosted a seminar titled “Connecting Generations Through Psychology,” featuring Dr. Norman D. Jackson, who explored the relevance of psychological bonds between young people and older adults.
On August 28, 2025, as part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, the School of Psychology at Anáhuac México University hosted an academic and cultural event on its North Campus. The event included an international academic seminar, also titled “Connecting Generations Through Psychology,” presented by Dr. Norman D. Jackson, Gerontology Coordinator at San Diego State University.
Dr. Cipriano Sánchez García, L.C., rector of Anáhuac México University, attended the event and welcomed students, teachers and alumni. He highlighted Anáhuac México's commitment to academic excellence, positive action leadership and the internationalization of education.
Dr. Jackson’s presentation debunked myths about generational differences and highlighted the hidden psychological connections between adolescents and older adults. He also discussed neuroplasticity, resilience and building intergenerational bridges.
An interactive workshop followed to promote intergenerational dialogue. Undergraduate students, academics and special guests participated, providing a space for reflection and the exchange of experiences to develop new lines of research.
Dr. Jackson emphasized the importance of understanding development throughout life and creating spaces that strengthen interaction between generations in order to build more empathetic and resilient communities.
This event reaffirms the School of Psychology’s role as a national and international leader in academic excellence, teaching, and research, while celebrating six decades of integral education par excellence with a positive social impact.
