history anáhuac

Anáhuac University was founded in 1964 with the main purpose of improving women’s and men’s human and social condition in Mexico and the world. Temporarily hosted in a campus at Lomas Virreyes, in Mexico City. Further on, in 1968, its first definitive campus was inaugurated in Interlomas, Huixquilucan’s municipality, State of Mexico.

After this first university’s foundation, the commitment made to comprehensively form a larger number of undergraduates moved forward with great dynamism and fueled the integration process for the upcoming institutions that now are part of the Anáhuac Universities’ Network.

It was not until August 28th, 2020, when Anáhuac Cancún University opened its doors to the first 147 undergraduates and started its first academic term. The degrees offered at that time were Law, Communications, International Business, Marketing, Business Management, Public Accounting, International Tourism, Hospitality and Restaurant Management.

The goal planned for the admissions department was not only covered but highly exceeded, and given its sudden demand, in January 22nd, 2001, an additional first semester group for the Business degree was opened with 22 new students.

In matters of continuing education, its first graduate courses were opened in October 2002, and the study programs chosen for these were in Children and Adolescent Psychology, Iconography and High Management.

It is worth mentioning that for this last course to be opened, an agreement was signed between Anáhuac Cancún University and COPARMEX for the first time; and as a result, 35 important local businessmen signed up for it.

Anáhuac University started giving its first steps and it positioned itself among the community’s preferences; each and every one of the courses implemented in Cancun had a warm and successful welcome by locals. Since then, it was already possible to foresee the institution’s future growth in the city and in the state of Quintana Roo.
