Pilgrimage to the Basilica of Guadalupe: a moment of spirituality

The Anahuac community experienced a spiritual journey during the recent pilgrimage to the Villa.

The event became a moment of unity and reflection in the company of pastoral representatives, administrative personnel and students. The day was marked by prayer, song and the sharing of Holy Communion.

The pilgrimage began on February 28th at 9:00 a.m. with the departure of the University community from the North and South campuses to the Basilica of Guadalupe in several buses. The active participation of the attendees created an atmosphere of unity and spirituality.

During the day, there was a walk accompanied by the recitation of the Rosary and the singing of spiritual songs by the University Choir, highlighting the dedication and commitment of the University to its values. The group photo captured the moment of communion among the pilgrims, testifying to the shared experience.

One of the most significant moments was the blessing of the Virgin, presided over by Dr. Cipriano Sánchez García, L.C., Rector of Anahuac Mexico University, and the Apostolic Nuncio to Mexico, Monsignor Joseph Spitieri. This gesture symbolized the institution's commitment to its beliefs and principles and commemorated a special moment of spiritual connection.

During the pilgrimage, reference was made to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Anahuac University. The importance of entrusting the present and future activities of the University to the Virgin Mary was emphasized, asking for her intercession and filial love.

The sermon, which focused on the difficulty of Jesus' journey, urged the community to embrace adversity as a means to true glory. It also emphasized the importance of sharing life and mission, breaking with conventional patterns and promoting fraternity within the university family.

Regarding Anahuac University's challenges and aspirations, Pope Francis's words were shared through H.E.R.H. Monsignor Joseph Spitieri, who emphasized the constant search for academic excellence in a context characterized by solidarity and social commitment.

The final consecration to the Virgin of Guadalupe, led by Dr. Cipriano Sanchez, was a moment of total surrender to Mary, entrusting to her care and guidance the love, life, pain and work of the university community. The desire was expressed to walk together, obtain vocations, respect life and bless the education of children, always trusting in Divine Providence.

The pilgrimage to the Basilica of Guadalupe was not only an event of spiritual reflection but also a renewed commitment by Anahuac University to its founding values and educational mission.
